Make sure your Aussie Bulldog Puppy comes with Official Registration papers
It has come to our attention that many members of the public are purchasing so called Australian Bulldogs, without or with false breed papers. These dogs are usually found in Pet Shops or the Trading Post, we don’t recommend any prospective puppy buyer to purchase from a breeder advertising in this paper. We advertised our first litter of Aussie Bulldog puppies in this paper, and it only attracted people looking to ruthlessly breed without providing a loving home or wanting them for pet shops. Pet shops also advertise in this paper, so beware. The Australian Bulldog Society does not allow their puppies to be sold in pet shops. It is worth the wait to go on a waiting list and ensure your receiving a real Aussie Bulldog, that is one that hasn’t been crossed with Pit Bull terrier, British Bulldog, Bullmastiff, Staffordshire Bull Terrier just to name a few.
Make sure your puppy comes with Australian Bulldog Society registration papers, if you want a guarantee that your puppy is the result of an Australian Bulldog to Australian Bulldog matings.
There are a number of other breed associations issuing breed certificates, however the Australian Bulldog Society does not allow the use of British Bulldogs and other breeds in their breeding programs, ALL other associations and breed clubs within Australia do! It’s ludicrous… if an Aussie needs to be crossed with a British Bulldog to produce so called quality puppies, she shouldn’t be bred with in the first place, this sort of breeding will not produce a consistant type, nor will the offspring be healthy examples of the breed. Check out the bloodline of your puppy before making your decision, its your right to know the breeding behind your puppy.
Furthermore the Australian Bulldog Society is the only financially accountable parent body for this new breed, and holds regular meetings, and holds all breed documentation, ensuring members and stock registered with this body will be the only ones to be considered for ANKC recognition in the future. The ANKC doesn’t want to know clubs that still use the British Bulldog, instead they require many generations of straight Australian Bulldog to Australian Bulldog breeding before they will consider an application. The Australian Bulldog society wesbite has some great examples of the breed, produced by Australian Bulldog to Australian Bulldog matings over 4 generations, these pups are tops.
Check out the website, join the club, they provide loads of information and have many friendly people to answer all your questions whether your after a pet or are interested in breeding Aussie Bulldogs.

I received a comment regarding this article from Outstandabull Aussie Bulldogs who I don’t wish to upset in any way, but I feel that its important to share with everyone what she had to say incase there are others out there who I have unintentionally offended.
Michelle from Outstandabull Aussie Bulldogs, commented:
“Your so dead against British to Aussie Matings, and you say you don’t believe in %’s, why is it then that all your foundation dogs are UABA registered dogs, All bred based on the percentage of the parents.
You have some very nice dogs Tresilla, So why not give credit where credit is due - That credit being to the breeders of the UABA that bred your dogs.
My suggestion to breeders like yourself is: Let your breeding program speak for itself, There is no need for some of the comments you have in this thread. If anyone purchases an Aussie Bulldogs with a breed certificate from a registry other then the ABS then that Aussie Bulldog is as much an Aussie Bulldog as a puppy with ABS Registry papers.
I do not and will never promote backyard breeders, But your are making the impression that breeders from registries other then the ABS are backyard breeders.
You also said no reputable breeder advertises in the Trading post, Just letting you know (not that you would have forgotten) that my first every Aussie Bulldog was bought via an add in the trading post and the breeder being….. wait for it……. Balerow.
You have very impressive dogs, and a very nice website why not use it to showcase your dogs instead of rubbishing breeders of other registries.”
My response to Michelle’s comment:
Well I’m suprised your looking at our website, but Glad you like it and thankyou for your nice comments regarding our AB’s.
Now I’m going to start off with why we don’t condone purchasing or advertising in the Trading Post. Well Yes your right we did advertise our first litter in the trading post, and the reason we will never advertise in there again is because it attracted the wrong people, people we did not wish our puppies to be adopted by… We received enquiries from breeders, like yourself Michelle, who only wanted a puppy for breeding.
To cut a long story short our experience with Michelle was not pleasant we took our beautiful baby boy back home, and found him a devoted family who loved him for the little Aussie he was, not for what was or what wasn’t between his 2 back legs!
Now regarding our Aussie Bulldogs, namely Zelda, Zarah, Zena and Oden. Yes they were bred by UABA breeders, and I have nothing against the UABA, apart from their use of the British Bulldog in their breeding, and the nonsense of percentages (this is my view only, I’m not saying you have to accept this).
Now, Zelda and Oden are both sired by British Bulldogs and in both cases, especially Zelda’s there was NO need to use a British Bulldog. Zelda’s mum already looks every bit the British Bulldog and to go and use a British Bulldog over her was not at any stage going to benefit the breed. As I have said before Zelda is no better than a British Bulldog, she suffers immensely in the heat, having such a short face and she really isn’t the most ideal mum. Furthermore when we purchased Zelda we weren’t made aware of her sire being a British Bulldog, this is not to say we wouldn’t have got her, but I think all new owners should be informed. Once again in Oden’s case I see no reason why the British Bulldog was used, his mother could just as well have been put over an Aussie Bulldog, to produce a similar if not better litter- Furthermore there were 8 puppies in Oden’s litter only 3 of which survived the Birth, putting British Bulldogs over females not built to give birth to such Boofy heads is a recipe for disaster, think about the poor females suffering whilst giving birth to these pups.
Now regarding the use of percentages, I have seen so many tops dogs go to waste that is not being used simply because their so called breed % wasn’t high enough! They had it all health, structure, type, turn of stifle which is very rare in any breed these days and yet they were not used because mums % and Dad’s % added together and divided by 2 wasn’t greater than or equal to say 80%! and if the poor dogs % did add up to 80% but the stunning female who’s owners desperately wanted to use this dog, who were genuinely interested in improving the health and type of our breed, but her % was below 70% and by the books this requires a British Bulldog to fix up whatever problems she may or may not have- was not bred from because of this ludicrous system.
Warra’s dog, Cassidy of Yanco is a good example, this dog has the traits of a top Aussie in my book, but was very rarely used because of his lower %. Check him out at there website.
http://warraaussiebulldogs.com/
Another reason we couldn’t resist Oden, he is one of the few Aussie’s around with this beautiful dog in his pedigree, Cassidy of Yanco is Oden’s grandfather. So you have to weigh up the good and the bad, but in Oden’s case, we were wrapped with his colour, some of his lineage and he had the type we were after.
Now Michelle also claims that some of our dogs, i.e. those registered with the UABA (Zelda, Zarah, Zena and Oden) are as special, good looking and much loved by all because they were bred based on %’s. I don’t agree- they are top dogs because their breeding in the majority of generations consisted of putting the most suitable complementary type of dog over another- as simple as that!
okay, I hope this hasn’t upset anyone, I’m just stating what I believe in, and this site is not simply about “show casing” our dogs, it is an informative resource for new Aussie owners, and we want them to learn from our experiences. There will always be debates, and its clear that some breeders, such as Outstandabull are headed in another direction, which we respect but I won’t refrain from telling people about our experience with the breed.
I still have the upmost respect for the co- breed founders Noel and Tina Green (UABA representatives), who helped me out on many occassion, but everyone should be able to have their say and at the end of the day we just have to keep going in our own directions, we all want to celebrate this magnificent new breed- lets do that!
We all have different maps of where we’re headed, some people’s compasses face different directions, lets try to understand each other’s perspective. If you want to breed based on % and using British Bulldog, thats all good go ahead, but when I have a puppy enquiry, who asks what %- I’m not going to refrain from sharing my experiences with this tale, or any other including the Trading post.
Thankyou for taking the time to read this- and I’m sorry if it makes no sense at all!
Best regards,
All At Balerow
