House Training

The key to house training your dog is to rely on your dog’s natural instincts and tendencies.

Dogs are instinctively clean animals. If they can avoid it, they would rather not soil themselves or their usual eating and sleeping areas. Dogs also naturally develop habits of where they would like to eliminate. For example, dogs that have a habit of eliminating on grass or dirt would rather not eliminate on concrete or gravel. You can use these natural tendencies for rapid and successful house training.

Intestinal Worming:

Intestinal worms are those that will inhabit the digestive tract of your animal, including round worms, hook worms, tape worms etc such worms can be transferred to humans and therefore it is very important to regularly worm your dog at the intervals recommended below.

There are a number of brands on the market, be sure to read the packaging to ensure the wormer you have selected does all worm type, including the nasty tapeworms. Cheaper wormers sometimes only irradicate round worms and the like. Reliable brands include Excelpet, Drontal, Valueheart.

It’s important you do not leave him unattended outside while you are not there for long periods. Aussie’s do get stolen, so be vigilant, and if your going out please put him in the laundry or somewhere safe and secure, with plenty of water.

We recommend as much as you can to invite your aussie inside the house so he can join in on family activities, you will get the most out of your new companion if you treat him like a member of the family.

Aussie’s love food, one of their favorite things! So beware they can easily become overweight. Your bulldog is overweight if you can’t feel his last couple of ribs- that is feel not see. Its important not to let your puppy carry too much weight during his growing stage, as this puts unnecessary strain on his joints, and can lead to developmental problems later on.

We all love to walk our new puppies, but a few things to keep in mind. Do NOT walk/place your puppy, on grounds where other dogs may have defecated etc. Droppings host a myriad of microorganisms including the deadly Canine Parvo-Virus. Your puppy has had his 6 week injection, however he is not fully protected from this virus until he has had his 12 week shot at 12 weeks of age. Parvo virus is often fatal, and its certainly not the start you want to for you and your new family member, so take care, no risks, keep your puppy away from any potential for infection.

We thought we’d give Zep her own page on our blog- seeing as she will be our newest family member.

Zeppelin, is 4 generations of Australian Bulldog to Australian Bulldog breeding on her Mum-Zephyr’s side and 2nd generation from her father’s side. She looks to be showing alot of promise at this early stage- and we look forward to watching her grow.

Baldor was bred by Kinthala Kennels of QLD, Australia. Although we still have our red male, Oden, we decided it was time to bring in some new blood. We were looking for a male with at least 2 generations of solid Australian Bulldog breeding behind him. Baldor is 2nd generation on his fathers side and 3rd generation on his mothers side. So he will give us 3rd generation Australian Bulldog progeny, that is 3 generations of breeding, with no use of the British Bulldog.

Well our litter is now 7 weeks old, and we are very pleased with the outcome. Zephyr and Oden have Produced a beautiful litter, and we are very pleased to present them as our second generation of Balerow Australian Bulldog breeding. We will be running on Zeppelin, the first puppy pictured below.
